Cork is home to some of Ireland's finest golf courses with a huge selection of parkland and links courses.
The Kingsley's sister hotel, the 5-star Fota Island Resort, is home to a championship Cork golf club which has hosted the Irish Open on three occasions - 2001, 2002 and 2014.
The Fota Island Golf Club is located just 15 minutes drive from Cork City and situated in the heart of a stunning 780-acre estate which is included in, "The Inventory of Outstanding Landscapes in Ireland". This 27-hole parkland is shaped by stunning woodlands creating three challenging championship golf courses featuring strategically placed bunkers and smooth putting surfaces.
Founded in 1993 and redesigned in 2000, the Deerpark course was designed by Christy O'Connor Jr., Peter McEvoy, and Jeff Howes. Stretching 6,927 yards from the championship tees (Par 71), Deerpark offers a strategic challenge with well-placed bunkers and rolling green parklands.
The Belvelly Course, a par-72 stretching over 7,121 yards, offers golf enthusiasts a mixture of challenges including a 9-hole layout developed by Jeff Howes. In particular, the 16th hole, a demanding 435-yard par four, requires pinpoint accuracy off the tee.
Finally, the par-73 Barryscourt Course offers a par-73 challenge across 7,362 yards featuring strategically placed bunkers and challenging water hazards. The course now incorporates a new nine-hole layout and the par-3 8th hole has been known to test players of all skill levels, requiring precision off the tee to avoid carefully placed threats.
